How-To Guide

How to choose a diary insert for your Filofax personal organiser

Most Filofax personal organisers come with some sort of diary insert included, generally this will be a Week to View format, sometimes known as Week on Two Pages. Slim Filofax organisers (Compact size) generally come with a Week on One page diary due to their smaller capacity ring mechanisms.

Choosing which diary insert will obviously depend on which size Filofax organiser you have, but the most popular formats are available in nearly all of the sizes – see diary inserts on the UK Filofax website:

As you will see there are also different coloured versions available as well, so white paper isn’t the only option.

Most weekly diary inserts are Monday starting, although there are some that start on Sundays too.

For people that need the extra detail and space of a Day to One page diary insert, you might find that this number of pages is too much for your Filofax organiser. However, given the flexibility of a Filofax personal organiser, you don’t have to carry the whole 12 months at once. You can for instance carry 3 or 4 months of your chosen daily or weekly format and then use monthly or a year planner to supplement these pages so you can still plan just as far in to the future.

Additionally if on occasional days you find the daily space a little restrictive in your chosen format, you can add in an undated planner page to your Filofax organiser diary page. Similarly people often add a notes page or to-do page to supplement their diary pages on weeks where they are exceptionally busy.

Using colour coding can also save space on your diary pages using coloured stickers or symbols to show repeating events and holidays. It might also help you visualise your week and help you plan your tasks and appointments too.

The size of all Filofax diary and paper refills (e.g. pocket, personal) is printed on the left hand margin of the paper, together with the product reference code.

The product reference code for Filofax diary refills changes every year to reflect the year that the diary begins, so if you have a diary that starts in 2014 the product code will end in 14 (e.g. 6842414). The following year’s diary will carry the same product code but ending in 15 (e.g. 6842415).
