As an avid Filofax collector/hoarder I have been finding ways all over my home where I can put my Filofax organisers to use. It may seem like a daunting task, however having a plan in place for each binder has made my life so much easier to manage.
Today I want to share with you my 5 steps for managing multiple Filofax organisers.
Step 1: Develop a Plan
• Figure out what sections you want and will use often.
• Figure out what type of paper/insert you will need.
◦ Print out samples of inserts you think you will like (Philofaxy is a great resource for this).
◦ Use the inserts to first determine if they will suit your needs.
Whether you are using one binder or multiples, make a plan for how you think you can or will use it. YouTube and Pinterest are great sources of information for how others use their binders for a more organised life. When I purchased my first Filofax I never imagined I’d have so many or that I’d find so many great uses for them. Whether you’re using one binder or multiples, make a plan for how you think you can or will use it.
Step 2: Work your plan
• Commit to your plan for at least a week testing out what works and what doesn’t.
• Try different types of inserts until you find what works and what is useful to you.
• Once you figure out a plan, set up your binders. Use them as intended to see if that actually works for you. Do you reach for them often or do they collect dust on the shelf? If it works great, if not then rework the plan. Try a different insert. See how you can tweak it to make it more effective.
• Before you commit to a full year of printables, print a few samples at home to see if it will work for you. I’ve found that simple lined paper works well for many of the things I need in my home and spiritual planners.
Step 3: Use what works
Your planner is a tool that should contribute to the life you want to live. If it becomes a source of stress, if it’s not helpful, if something is not working – tweak it, add tabs, remove tabs, develop something new to make it work. Don’t let your planner be another thing to add to your ever-growing to-do list.
Step 4: Ask for Help!
The best part about owning a Filofax is the community that is built around this organisational tool. The Filofax community is ready and willing to help you find what you need to make your planner work. There are so many resources out there available in the groups on Facebook and Flickr, as well as the numerous bloggers who contribute to the wealth of knowledge available to you. Get involved, join the groups, comment, ask questions and share.
Are you a crafty planner? There’s a group for that.
Are you a minimalist planner? There’s a group for that.
Do you want to collect Filofaxes? There’s a group for that.
Are you a Filofax newbie? …I think you know what comes next.
The Filofax communities are some of the most generous, kindhearted, helpful group of people that I’ve ever been a part of. They are so giving and really enjoy networking with each other and helping each other out.
Full disclosure: I am not usually this organised. Since I have all these Filofaxes I figured I’d put them to use. That is the only reason I have these things broken down this way. Click

to read about why I first started using a Filofax organiser.
Normally, I’m a mess and all over the place. Missing appointments because I forgot about this or misplaced that appointment reminder. This used to happen quite often to me and it was a source of extreme anxiety. I had a very hard time coming up with a way to manage my busy schedule. Filofax came into my life just at the right time. I came up with this plan to help make my life a little easier and to put these beautiful Filofax organisers that I’ve collected into regular use.
I researched online, watched loads of video tutorials, read lots of blogs, and dug out all my old planners to figure out a plan that I could keep up with. I also tweak this set up often. Moving things around from one planner to the next, adding tabs, subtracting tabs just to see what feels right and what will keep me reaching for my Filofax more often. Everyday I’m inspired by the wonderful community of Instagram who routinely show their set up. There are quite a few Filofax hash tags that you can look up. #Filofax, #filofaxcrazy, and #planneraddicts are some of my favourites.
Step 5: Persevere
Your planner peace is out there. It’s waiting and available if you only look for it. With so many resources available right now it is a very daunting task. Trust me I know, but trial and error will lead you to the organisational system that can give you the peace you seek.
I am very honoured to be able to share this with you today. Feel free to leave me a comment about how you manage your Filofax and what inserts and set up works for you.

I have 3 filofax, since november i buy all of them. I love my A5 finsbury and use it for everything. My one week old Aston, personal I decide today to use for all my crafty/scrapbooks writing, list, supplies etc. And it feels right. BUT my lovely pocket Malden in Ochre, what I´m going to use it for?It lives in my handbag but I dont use it as a wallet. My plan was to use it for important appointments, grocerielist etc. But I never write in it. I do not want it to collect dust. Help, any good tip for me?

Cina, I wish I could respond to you directly. A few suggestions for your pocket malden: you can use it as a jotter for taking notes, or a list keeper. You could even use it to keep recipes or as a check register. I hope those suggestions help you.

I’m so glad I was curious and read this blog. I have three Filofaxes. An a5 ipad version, a pink pocket size and a beige classic, the beige and pink are gathering dust but I will now resuscitate them following your advice. I’m in London, United Kingdom. Thanks.
